xmms-mp3.x86_64 0:1.2.10-6.fc8 requires the 32bit version of a package that is already installed as 64bit:

Excerpt from "yum install xmms-mp3.x86_64":
---> Package xmms-mp3.x86_64 0:1.2.10-6.fc8 set to be updated
--> Processing Dependency: xmms-libs = 1:1.2.10 for package: xmms-mp3
--> Running transaction check
---> Package xmms-libs.i386 1:1.2.10-36.fc7 set to be updated
--> Processing Dependency: libmikmod.so.2 for package: xmms-libs
--> Running transaction check
---> Package mikmod.i386 0:3.2.2-6.fc8 set to be updated
--> Finished Dependency Resolution

Excerpt from "yum deplist xmms-mp3.x86_64":
  dependency: xmms-libs = 1:1.2.10
   provider: xmms-libs.i386 1:1.2.10-36.fc7
   provider: xmms-libs.x86_64 1:1.2.10-36.fc7

Not a bug. You need to tell Yum not to do that in case you don't want i386 for x86_64. Set multilib_policy=best in your yum.conf (or exclude i?86 packages).

I noticed that it wants to install a fc7 version although my installed version of xmms-libs.x86_64 is 1:1.2.11-36.99_8.fc8

Have I to switchback to the fc7 version or is gonna be corrected ?

Where did you get that one? It's not a Fedora package:

xmms-libs-1.2.10-36.fc7 is latest for Fedora 8. See above link.

From atrpms.

Well, that upgrades Fedora. Not nice.

But I wonder why xmms-mp3 strictly requires "xmms-libs = 1:1.2.11" and not just xmms-libs? The dependency need not be versioned.

RPMFusion is no longer releasing updates for this version of Fedora. This bug will be set to CLOSED:EXPIRED next week to reflect this.

If the problem persists after upgrading to the latest version of Fedora, please update the version field of this bug (and re-open it if it has been closed).
Comment 7 Emmanuel Seyman 2012-04-01 23:47:48 CEST
Setting to RESOLVED:EXPIRED since RPMFusion is no longer releasing updates for this version of Fedora.
