use akmod-nvidia for the time been. |
Hello. I use f15 beta and after yesterdays kernel update X will no longer start, complains of failing to load module "nvidia" (module-specific-error, 0). I updated from kernel-2.6.38.5-22.fc15.i686 to kernel-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686. I tried debugging with the friendly folks at #fedora and it was suggested I file a bug report here. From what I understand the RPMFusion repo has not yet been brought up to date with the new kernel. PLSFIX. :) # rpm -qa|grep kernel kernel-headers-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 kernel-devel-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 kernel-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 abrt-addon-kerneloops-2.0.2-3.fc15.i686 # rpm -qa|grep nvidia kmod-nvidia-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686-270.41.03-1.fc15.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-270.41.06-1.fc15.i686 kmod-nvidia-270.41.03-1.fc15.i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-270.41.06-1.fc15.i686 nvidia-xconfig-1.0-8.fc15.i686 akmod-nvidia-270.41.03-1.fc15.i686 nvidia-settings-1.0-10.fc15.i686 # yum update [a]kmod-nvidia Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit Setting up Install Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package akmod-nvidia.i686 1:270.41.03-1.fc15 will be updated --> Processing Dependency: akmod-nvidia = 1:270.41.03-1.fc15 for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-270.41.03-1.fc15.i686 ---> Package akmod-nvidia.i686 1:270.41.06-1.fc15 will be an update --> Running transaction check ---> Package kmod-nvidia.i686 1:270.41.03-1.fc15 will be updated ---> Package kmod-nvidia.i686 1:270.41.06-1.fc15 will be an update --> Processing Dependency: kmod-nvidia-2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686 >= 1:270.41.06-1.fc15 for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-270.41.06-1.fc15.i686 --> Running transaction check ---> Package kmod-nvidia-2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686.i686 1:270.41.06-1.fc15 will be installed --> Processing Dependency: kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686 for package: 1:kmod-nvidia-2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686-270.41.06-1.fc15.i686 --> Finished Dependency Resolution Error: Package: 1:kmod-nvidia-2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686-270.41.06-1.fc15.i686 (rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide) Requires: kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.3-18.fc15.i686 Installed: kernel-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 (@updates-testing) kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 Available: kernel-PAE-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 (fedora) kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686.PAE Available: kernel-PAEdebug-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 (fedora) kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686.PAEdebug Available: kernel-debug-2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686 (fedora) kernel-uname-r = 2.6.38.5-24.fc15.i686.debug You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
