Description Christian Groove 2012-01-18 06:52:33 CET
Dear Sirs,

first of all thanks for you work.

It seems to me, that nvidia steps from error to error.
According to fedora/redhat bugzilla entry:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751891

and nvidia:

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2503979

the current nvidia-beta cause another problem in a
KDE environment.

It would be a great help, iff you could update your
beta driver (again).

Thank you very much!
Christian

I agree that this driver is way better.
But it is still advertised as a beta driver, people using it might loose support from nvidia or their hardware vendor.

So I'm waiting for stable release for RPM Fusion, and you need to forward this request to nVidia to make a 'stable release'.

Once that said, I might provide a package on my personal repo for the future.

You misunderstood me. I did not ask to replace the
(official) stable 290 (a)kmod by the 295.10 beta.

I asked you to exchange the current beta(testing)
NVidia driver (base on 295.9) against the 295.10
version, because the available beta driver has a
bug, that has been corrected by nvidia.

The new beta driver is 295.10 and it is available
as an unpacked version by nvidia.

Nope, they alread shipped a beta driver, that shall
be used as the new beta

We do not support a "beta" varriant anymore actually.
There is several weird corner case when several version of the same component are provided in "the same default repository".
Best would be to avoid that.

Instead, I plan to build a normal package that will replace the standard version on my repository (kwizart-testing). Such package will be replaced by the official (RPM Fusion) one once the driver leaves beta stage.

I'm sorry but I don't understand. After a second look, your link point to the version 290.10 and not 295.10 as advised in the report ?!?

latest beta is still 295.09 for me (and is available in rawhide despite it probably don't work there).

Salut Nicols

you are right. I guess i was getting a little
bit confused with the version numbering.
In fact latest beta of Nvidia is 295.09
that has a commonly known error, that popped
up before.

I will have to contact NVidia and sent them
a bug report of their crashing driver.

Sorry !

Incident removed.

I found a new problem with the 295.9 (beta)
driver from nvidia and have to contact them.

Thx for reporting anyway.
This usually help me to know if new update are really needed beyond my own experience and cases.
