can someone explain why the VLC src.rpm has "prelink" as "BuildRequires"
this package should not be required from any other one because
it is really useless at all and it makes "rpmbuild --rebuild" very
hard on machines with rkhunter

As anyone can read from the spec file, prelink is needed for /usr/bin/execstack because some binaires need to be cleared.
On the other side rkhunter is not in BuildRequires.

vlc is the only package i ever found with rkhunter as BuildRequires
and yes i rebuilt and maintaining really many packages on my buildmachines

did i say this?

but having 'prelink' installed on a machine where rkhunter is installed is a pain because you have a stupid software changing BINARY files around and most rkhunter-warnings are happening becasue of this - besides i never got th epoint who in the world needs prelink making more problems as it makes program starts only in theory faster
