Description salsaman 2012-06-05 12:07:00 CEST
Fedora 17/RPMFusion ships with mplayer MPlayer SVN-r34652-4.7.0.

In this version of mplayer, using the option -vo png:alpha produces png files with 0 size. This in turn causes LiVES* to hang during its installation tests and also during video file decoding. (*I know LiVES is not yet *officially* in RPMFusion, but many people use it in fedora).

This issue has now been fixed in LiVES svn. The installation no longer hangs, and a message with a workaround is shown advising use of jpeg instead of png as a short term measure.

The issue has been logged with mplayer: http://bugzilla.mplayerhq.hu/show_bug.cgi?id=2071 so please keep monitoring this for further updates.

As a note for the future, before releasing a new version of mplayer, please check to make sure it works in LiVES. This can be done very simply by starting the LiVES application and going to Help -> Troubleshoot to run the tests.

I have just kicked off a build including the fix from SVN. Please test and report back.

Thanks. It seems to be fixed now with the latest ffmpeg libs.
