Can 'vlc' itself play this particular item? while we're at it, rpm -q phonon phonon-backend-vlc dragon please. if possible, can you share a sample media file that doesn't play for you? so I can try to reproduce the problem... (email is fine) and, rpm -q vlc-core (In reply to comment #1) > Can 'vlc' itself play this particular item? yes, sorry, I've forgotten to mention that it reports some error: > [0x7f7edc001268] main vout display error: Failed to set on top but the video plays (with sound) (In reply to comment #2) > while we're at it, > > rpm -q phonon phonon-backend-vlc dragon > > please. $ rpm -q phonon phonon-backend-vlc dragon vlc-core phonon-4.6.0-3.fc17.x86_64 phonon-backend-vlc-0.6.0-1.fc17.x86_64 dragon-4.9.2-1.fc17.x86_64 vlc-core-2.0.3-3.fc17.x86_64 > if possible, can you share a sample media file that doesn't play for you? so I > can try to reproduce the problem... (email is fine) still the same file, I'll try to upload it somewhere overnight (ATM it is available from some filesharing site which seems to impose some geoloc limits :-/) ... but this problem seems to happen with any video; if it'd be just my machine, I'd think that I've broken it by fiddling with ffmpeg versions or so, but unfortunately I can see it also on my wife's machine which hasn't anything else than official Fedora & RPMFusion packages ... does vlc backend work for you? yes, it works for me. there's a new 0.6.1 release coming real soon, that we can try testing out within the next day or 2. (In reply to comment #6) > there's a new 0.6.1 release coming real soon, that we can try testing out > within the next day or 2. next week or two? :-) just FYI, my harddrive has failed, I've just did a fresh F17 install with a fresh user account (configuring things from scratch, not keeping the old config cruft), and it is still the same I wonder what I'm doing wrong ... the new build should finally be in rpmfusion-updates-testing repo, if you want to try it out. If this is still a problem for you with latest updates, let me suggest taking the issue upstream to bugs.kde.org. The phonon maintainers are generally very responsive, and can help diagnose what's going wrong. In doing so, including extra debugging information would help, see http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/Phonon RPMFusion is no longer releasing updates for this version of Fedora. This bug will be set to RESOLVED:EXPIRED next week to reflect this. If the problem persists after upgrading to the latest version of Fedora, please update the version field of this bug (and re-open it if it has been closed). Setting to RESOLVED:EXPIRED since RPMFusion is no longer releasing updates for this version of Fedora. |
