Description Peter StJ 2009-01-18 12:29:56 CET
On some wmv files the plugins are unable to decode the audio, thus only picture is played back:
Video
Microsoft Windows Media 9/30fps
Audio
WMA Version 9
Channels: 0

The latest is not true, there are actually 2 audio channels, only they are not seen, the output from mplayer (which handles the audio correctly)
Opening audio decoder: [dmo] Win32/DMO decoders
GetOutput r=0x0   size:24576  align:1
StreamCount r=0x0  1  1
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 192.0 kbit/12.50% (ratio: 24000->192000)
Selected audio codec: [wma9dmo] afm: dmo (Windows Media Audio 9 DMO)

I am not sure what more information is required for this report, please let me know if more is needed

You most likely have win32 codecs installed, which get picked up by mplayer to play the wma9 sound, there is no FOSS code to play wma9 sound and
gstreamer-plugins-ugly does not have the capability to load win32 dll's.
