Description acc-bugz-rpmfusion 2015-05-09 22:00:25 CEST
H.264 playback makes firefox and totem crash immediately (segmentation fault, core dumped etc).

I'm on Fedora 22 and using the following packages/versions_

gstreamer1-libav.x86_64 1.4.3-1.fc22
x264.x86_64 0.142-11.20141221git6a301b6.fc22
x264-libs.x86_64 0.142-11.20141221git6a301b6.fc22

firefox.x86_64 37.0.2-3.fc22
totem.x86_64 1:3.16.0-1.fc22

Note that there are no problems when using mplayer. Playback is fine and I get this command line output:

Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
libavcodec version 56.1.100 (external)
Selected video codec: [ffh264] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg H.264)

It might well be that this problem is not due to x264. If you can explicitly exclude that it's due to x264, maybe you can point me to the right place to file this bug. Thanks!

Here is a link to a H.264 video I'm using for testing: http://quirksmode.org/html5/videos/big_buck_bunny.mp4

Wrong component. x264 has nothing to do with H.264 playback, it's only an encoder.
Comment 3 acc-bugz-rpmfusion 2015-05-12 22:33:38 CEST
Yes, thanks for the correction! It's of course due to gstreamer1-libav:

gstreamer1-libav.x86_64 1.4.3-1.fc22

Here is the mozilla crash report for the firefox crash: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c8424576-0ed3-4816-a8b2-79aa22150512

But as I said, it's not caused by Firefox, because also Totem crashes.
