With dvdstyler-1.7.1-4.fc10.x86_64, when burning movies to DVD, after starting them, they run for a few seconds (some with, some without sound on a DVD with two movies, one with only MP2, one with MP2+AC3 sound), then stop, then the menu appears again. I didn't have this problem on older (pre 1.7?) dvdstyler versions.

If I view the .VOB files directly (mounted the DVD, used VLC, then chose "open directory on VIDEO_TS), then display correctly (with sound). Using "DeVeDe" also helps (having to multiplex the video and audio files together first), but the program is very restricted compared to dvdstyler. Perhaps this works with version 1.7.2, but I couldn't get it to compile (you seem to have run into the same problem in the context of bug #366).

Setting severity to "major" as the issue potentially wastes DVD media.

What player are you using when the DVDs do not play properly? Also, are you sure that you've selected the correct video format? DVDStyler defaults to PAL, but if you live in North America you need to set the DVD to be in NTSC (sorry if you've checked all of this already, but I'm suspicious about the settings since the DVD plays fine with VLC).

I used a DVD player hooked up to my TV set (Cyberhome CH-452) _and_ VLC to check, i.e. with VLC it also stops when played as a DVD (only slightly earlier). Playing the individual .VOB files is what works (which is very strange). I'm in Europe and the PAL/NTSC setting is set correctly to PAL. Mind, I see some frames, then the movie stops.

Okay, that makes more sense - does this problem only occur with this specific file or on all DVDs you try and produce?

(By the way, I've built 1.7.2 locally & will submit a build as soon as the maintenance on the RPM Fusion builsystem has completed).

If my memory serves me correctly, I haven't produced a working DVD with dvdstyler for a while. Granted that may not be very helpful, as I haven't gotten around to trying it for a while as well ;-). But definitely no working one with version 1.7.x.

Did you build against a new ffmpeg vfersion or have you patched dvdstyler to work with the old one? In the latter case, please share the patch, then I can maybe give you early feedback whether 1.7.2 remedies the issue.

I can confirm this part, dvdstyer 1.7.x didn't seem to interact well with our relatively new checkouts of ffmpeg

ffmpeg was updated in CVS, so I built some RPMs locally and build against those...
ffmpeg: http://cvs.rpmfusion.org/viewvc/rpms/ffmpeg/F-10/?root=free
DVDStyler: http://cvs.rpmfusion.org/viewvc/rpms/dvdstyler/F-10/?root=free

The new RPMs are in the repositories now - can you still reproduce the issue?
