Description Yaakov Selkowitz 2016-11-22 18:58:50 CET
With the recent admissibility of MP3 decoding software to Fedora proper, I have proposed adding a gstreamer1-plugins-ugly-free to Fedora which would partially conflict with this repository's gstreamer1-plugins-ugly:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1397261

The following plugins would be contained therein:

gst/xingmux
ext/cdio
ext/dvdread
ext/libmad
ext/mpg123

I would like to coordinate this to avoid any breakage to users.

Updated list:

gst/xingmux
ext/a52dec
ext/cdio
ext/dvdread
ext/mpg123

Once lame itself is added, so too will ext/lame.

I think it would be best for rpmfusion's gstreamer1-plugins-ugly package to grow a Req

<ugh I managed to accidentally hit save changes>

I think it would be best for rpmfusion's gstreamer1-plugins-ugly package to grow a Requires: gstreamer1-plugins-ugly-free and drops the mentioned plugins of-course. This way we can prepare and push an update in rpmfusion slightly in advance of the Fedora one, which will then not be installable until the Fedora update becomes available and once the Fedora update becomes available users will have a smooth upgrade without loosing any plugins.

Does that sound like a good plan ? If so can you please let us know when the Fedora -free package is ready (but not yet pushed out as an update) ?
