Description rdr 2021-10-27 02:49:44 CEST
I just installed Fedora 35 Beta, thank you for RPMfusion!

I installed mpd (and ncmpcpp and mpris2 to go along with it). Initially I *think* it worked ok. But then I did an update to everything and lost sound (volume no longer appeared in the top bar). After rebooting after the update, I now have sound again (yay), but now mpd is throwing this error:

/usr/bin/mpd: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/pipewire-0.3/jack/libjack.so.0: undefined symbol: pw_properties_fetch_int32

This happens both with launching via systemd as a service, and as my particular user, so I don't think it has to do with my mpd.conf. Oddly, it even throws this error when running "mpd --version". The version is 0.23.2, as stated by the package and dnf.

Oddly enough, I am not using the "jack" output (at least to my knowledge), I had configured a "Pulse" and "Alsa" audio before on Fedora 34 (with pipewire) and I think it had worked unless I'm remembering incorrectly (it's been a while).

Here's the output from dnf:

Summary : The Music Player Daemon
URL          : https://www.musicpd.org
License      : GPLv2+
Description : Music Player Daemon (MPD) is a flexible, powerful, server-side
             : application for playing music. Through plugins and libraries it
             : can play a variety of sound files (e.g., OGG, MP3, FLAC, AAC,
             : WAV) and can be controlled remotely via its network protocol. It
             : can be used as a desktop music player, but is also great for
             : streaming music to a stereo system over a local network. There
             : are many GUI and command-line applications to choose from that
             : act as a front-end for browsing and playing your MPD music
             : collection.

Here's information on what version of PipeWire is installed:

$ pipewire --version
pipewire
Compiled with libpipewire 0.3.38
Linked with libpipewire 0.3.38

If it's a matter of a missing package or something I'd like to know! IF there's any more information you require I'd be happy to help if I can, I just hope this is the right place to file the bug.

Report the issue against fedora pipewire.
FTR the issue doesn't reproduce here.

$ rpm -q mpd pipewire

Following some advice on a forum, I tried installing the package "pipewire-plugin-jack" using the command "sudo dnf install pipewire-plugin-jack --allowerasing". This removed a package (pipewire-jack-audio-connection-kit) and installed a few others, but resolved the issue. Perhaps the issue is then not with the package but with the packages installed by default on Fedora 35 Beta? In any case, it's working again! Sorry for the trouble.
