Hi all,

Not sure if it's the correct place to mention this "issue" but when installing akmod-nvidia (550.78-1.el9) on AlmaLinux 9, background compilation tasks keep running after the dnf command has finished, without giving any progress status. This causes some problems if you reboot immediately after the installation.

Would it be possible to keep dnf running the entire time to prevent unfinished jobs?

Thanks

It's "by-design" in the sense that we need the dnf task to end before we can install the produced kmod packages.

We have few attemps to mitigate any premature reboot (using /usr/bin/systemd-inhibit or conflicts reboot/shutdown).

But at the end, "root" is there to bypass theses inhibitors , so this won't pass and "sudo reboot" directives

Basically , best way forward is to educate end-users.
