Can you link to the fedora-fr topic for reference ?
Comment 3 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-15 14:34:00 CEST
Please remove vga=0x318 from grub.conf, this feature isn't supported well by the nvidia driver... I cannot help further if not done.

Your nvidia driver installation seems to be in good shape despite you first tried to run the nvidia installer (nouveau isn't loaded, the correct libGL.so and glx.so are used). So this is likely a bug in the driver.

Can you add this line to the Device section of your xorg.conf:
 Option "ConstantFrameRateHint" "True"
Comment 4 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-15 21:42:57 CEST
OK, but what happens when vga line is kicked out ?

Always the same thing with vga removed from grub.conf and the option in Device section in my xorg.conf
Comment 6 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-16 01:51:33 CEST
can you paste your xorg.conf ?

Have you have sent the nvidia-bug-report.log to nvidia ?

Comment 9 Antonin 2009-07-24 10:26:07 CEST
I did not, I can do it but I am not sure the problem comes from the nvidia driver. I mean it worked fine with fedora core 10. Should I try to setup the nvidia driver using the binary file from www.nvidia.com ?

Comment 10 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-24 10:50:34 CEST
no, the package is in good shape according to us. And others have it to work perfectly fine. It's just that your xorg.conf isn't really compliant with what we expect it to be on default system, so it means you have tweaked it manually dispite this wasn't expected.

For example, we do not use xkb anymore on Fedora 10 and beyond, we use evdev which is the default keyboard, (maybe you can switch to see if it makes a difference)...
Comment 11 Antonin 2009-07-24 11:13:13 CEST
I don't really remember how I have changed xorg.conf. I know I have changed it but I did it because there were problems (I did not touch xorg.conf for xkb).
I will erase xorg.conf and I will regenerate it using nvidia-xconfig .
I am pretty sure that it won't work so I will update nvidia-bug-report.log afterward.

Comment 12 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-24 12:18:20 CEST
you are not expected to use nvidia-xconfig while not having a xorg.conf created with livna-config-display,

Please use "nvidia-config-display enable" instead of nvidia-xconfig
or just switch kbd driver with evdev from your current xorg.conf
Comment 13 Antonin 2009-07-28 17:50:41 CEST
I have tried both things you told me but it still doesn't work.

Comment 14 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-07-28 17:54:51 CEST
can you be more verbose about what do not work ?

You were asked to use an xorg using either evdev...

Do you have the related /var/log/Xorg.0.log

A new nvidia driver is available (185.18.29) , you can get it from
yum update kmod-nvidia\* --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing

Or, when the new built kernel will be also available:
yum update kmod-nvidia\* --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing,updates-testing
and reboot

Please report if this solved your problem, and submit a new bug report if this has eventually introduced a new one.

Any News from 185.18.31 ?

Sorry for the time to reply, I am back from my holidays and ready to continue to resolve this bug...

I have still the same problem with the last kernel and the akmod nvidia.
Comment 21 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-08-20 14:52:49 CEST
quoting from nvidia-bug-report.log

-----------------------------
/proc/cmdline
ro root=UUID=be1db8d7-b90e-4037-a087-a43d449eee23 rhgb vga=0x318 quiet
-----------------------------

Again, I'm not going to consider this as a valid bug report until you removed the vga line from grub. It is well known to produce conflict with nvidia once the vesafb driver is loaded.

Comment 22 Antonin 2009-08-20 15:33:37 CEST
I have made so many tests that I am pretty sure it will be the same thing without vga in grub... Anyway, I will change my grub configuration and upload the nvidia-bug-report.

Are you still considering that it is an invalid bug ?
Comment 25 Nicolas Chauvet 2009-08-29 14:15:33 CEST
What's the answear from nvidia.com once you send the report to them ?
(please re-open once you have an answear).

(the new stable nvidia release will be available in the next rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing soon).
