Description Martin Sourada 2009-08-10 13:40:52 CEST
I've built libass-0.9.7 for rawhide which contains API changes. I'd like to better sync the push for F-11 and F-10, also with gstreamer-plugins-bad (See Bug 757). I'm not sure if the vlc source are prepared for the API changes or not, it might need similar changes like gstreamer-plugins-bad.

Okay, this update was very awaited so please do so...

For various reason, I will prefer to disable libass support in vlc for now. Specially as I will be on holidays next week until the end of the month.

While been disabled, I will enable a "--with libass" switch with the needed backported support for 0.9.7 in F-11 (not enabled in F-10 yet)

vlc packages got rebuilt without libass.

I will re-enable when vlc 1.0.2 will be released.

What prevent the new libass to be pushed ?

This is fixed from the vlc side, so closing:

Coordination with others package maitainer that use libass would deserve to be done here:

As it contains API/ABI break and soname bump, I'd like to let it be in Rawhide for a while before pushing to stable release, however the gstreamer-plugins-bad maintainer does not seem to have rebuilt his package even in rawhide...
