bugbuddy report

/usr/bin/vmware-user crashes every time I run it in Fedora 11. I'm running the VM under VMWare 2.0.1.

I've attached the bugbuddy report (after installing all of the relevant debuginfos)

I'm using this version: open-vm-tools-0.0.0.172495-1.fc11.i586
Comment 2 Yi Ding 2009-08-12 22:32:27 CEST
And that should say that I'm running it under VMWare *server* 2.0.1 (windows host)
Comment 3 Denis Leroy 2009-08-13 00:15:50 CEST
Hmm, I don't have a VMWare Server setup to test this, I would suggest to file this directly upstream at http://open-vm-tools.sourceforge.net/
Comment 5 Yi Ding 2009-08-13 06:54:02 CEST
Here's what upstream said:

"This part of the code was pretty much rewritten between the release you're
using and the last one (2009.07.22-179896). I'd recommend trying that one
instead."

Do you think you could package the newer version, or give me some instructions on how to do it?

Thanks!

I've pushed 2009.07.22-179896 as a F-11 update. Let me know if it fixes your problem. Link with builds :

Hi Denis,

It looks like there's only log files and the SRPM at that location. Do you have a link to the RPM files?

Thanks,
Yi

Ah yes sorry, it looks as though you'll have to wait until the build is signed and pushed to the mirrors. A matter of days normally.
Comment 9 Yi Ding 2009-08-19 01:15:04 CEST
I just installed the version from testing and it seems to work fine (no more crashes and copy and paste works). I had to manually download kernel-2.6.29.6-217.2.6.fc11 though.

Thanks!

Let me know if you still run into issues.
