Well, I don't know what I can do about this (I'm not intimate with upstream, nor am I the x264 maintainer), but I should bump h264enc to the latest upstream version (8.9.9) and maybe that will fix this. No, the problem also exists with the newest version. My guess would be that the used codec configuration causes this error. But again, I'm not familiar with codecs and so I couldn't say this better. Ok, I suggest filing a bug upstream then (though, seeing as how it works on later versions of x264 (F-11, rawhide), I doubt they will do much about it). That, or asking the x264 maintainer to bump F-10 up to the F-11 version. I've filed it upstream first: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2836858&group_id=183548&atid=905686 But I'm not sure if the sf bug report system is really used by upstream. Ok, trying to upgrade x264 on F10 would be the only possibility to get h264enc to run: "your x264 is way too old, from 2008. Please upgrade to latest Git x264 - git clone git://git.videolan.org/x264.git and recompile mplayer to pick up the new library." So could you please try to get the x264 maintainer(s) to update the package in f10? As you probably observed in the maintainer's reply to your recent email about mplayer, he has been fairly busy (thus the lack of updates to x264/mplayer). I'm not sure what all I can do to help, as I'm not very intimate with upstream (AIUI, x264/mplayer almost never make releases, we just ship svn head at some point -- and he is in contact with upstream, so he can pick a fairly good svn revision). (In reply to comment #7) > I'm not sure what all I can do to help, as I'm not very intimate with upstream > (AIUI, x264/mplayer almost never make releases, we just ship svn head at some > point -- and he is in contact with upstream, so he can pick a fairly good svn > revision). Me neither. So sticking with the current x264 would be the best option atm. h264enc is just a small programm. Don't know what packages could break with a newer x264-libs. :) But for the future a new release should be tested on all branches if it's really working. In a short test the new 9.0.0 on F11 seems to have the same problem. I maybe can offer some help with that if you write me a privat mail before a new release (send it the same address as listed in this bug). Ok, thanks. I will keep that in mind the next time I want to push a new release. |
